If A Tree Falls In The Forest
But No One Hears it -
The Best Of Jim Stiene:
By David Fricke:
Break out the Budweiser and throw on some dogs because this CD is made for a party.
The CD opens, appropriately enough, with the track, "More than a Feeling" and it really will stir some feelings when you hear that old song play.
The next track is 'Godzilla,' a power chord fiesta that will have you banging your head while you wait by the keg.
The third track, 'Don't Fear the Reaper,' brings it down a little with some subdued vocals and precise arrangement. On this track, Jim really seems to make effective use of the cowbell.
In fact the entire CD is a powerful collection of hard rocking songs, with gems like 'Carry On My Wayward Son,' 'We Will Rock You,' 'Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo,' ending with the guitar extravaganza of 'Freebird.'
With this CD, Jim Stiene has really managed to capture the energy and excitement of youth at a time when cynical, whining Gen Xers are complaing about their crappy jobs or annoying girlfriends.
No wait. I'm thinking of my 'K-TEL Party Rock' collection. Nevermind. I've never head of Jim Stiene. How did I even get on this page?
